The Mulika Campaign

The Mulika Campaign, under the rallying cry “End the Silence, End the Cycle”, is a bold communications led campaign that confronts the normalization of rape and defilement in communities in Kenya. Building on the Kenya Human Rights Commission’s Red Card Campaign, Mulika shifts the focus from teenage pregnancy statistics to the systemic failures fueling sexual violence including failures in healthcare, justice, and education. Through a sports plus implementation strategy, the campaign uses football and basketball to educate young people in communities, amplify survivor voices through Story za Baze podcast, and ignite young people to call for accountability on the lack of access to information, medical services and justice. Anchored in Kayole (Nairobi) and Kakamega, Mulika equips communities with accurate information, and legal and medical support, by placing young people at the center as agents of change, Mulika promotes access to information, services, and justice.
